Walking Group on 9th March
As the Victorian Tea Room at the tower opens this
weekend we thought it would be nice if we met there at
10.30am for a coffee before setting off.
We will then leave to explore more of the Blackburn
with Darwen countryside on Sunday, this is why we
are having an earlier start than normal. We can sort
outcar sharing and then leave for the Roddlesworth
visitor centre, arriving byapproximately 11.30am. You
could meet us at Roddlesworth if you prefer.
After a fairly steep climb up to Darwen Tower, we will
go south across the moor and gently descend to the
ruins of Hollinshead Hall, then back through the woods
along the riverbank to the car park.
It's approx 6.5 miles, 3 to -3 1/2 hours duration.
Bring a packed lunch, we should be back in time for a
cup of tea in the café or even a pint in the pub,
whichever people prefer.
If the weather is bad, we may resort to the woodland
walk instead, but fingers crossed.
